EARTH DAY

What is Earth Day?

Earth Day is observed each year on April 22nd.  Originally, Earth Day was only observed in the United States.  Now it is a day where people around the world reflect on the environment and what we can do to sustain it.  It is a time to celebrate, remember, and take action(s) to keep our environment clean!

When was Earth Day first observed?

The first Earth Day was observed on April 22, 1970.  This year marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day.

WORLD ART DAY

What is World Art Day?

World Art Day is an international celebration of the Fine Arts.  It is a day to celebrate all things creative!

Why April 15th?

This date was chosen in honor of Leonardo da Vinci, who was born on April 15, 1452.

Considered to be one of the greatest painters of all time, this Italian artist was also heralded as a sculptor, architect, mathematician, engineer, inventor, and philosopher.

It is because of Leonardo da Vinci’s extraordinary talents, and his influence of the Fine Arts in other fields, that April 15th was chosen for World Art Day.
